The Southern Birdwing

The program :- Pick-up by bus from the hotel begins at 7:45 to 8:30 AM depending on tides. The bus will proceed to Cortalim (a 45 minute drive) where the passengers will board the boat which will journey up the Cumbarjua river and back. Beers, soft drinks and mineral water are at their disposal. There will be a stopover for lunch at a farm in the heart of the Cumbarjua mangroves.
'Lunch' is a splendid buffet that caters to both vegetarians and non-vegetarians

The boat :- Two, strong, traditional wooden boats, that can comfortably seat thirty and twenty people respectively (note :- we do NOT overpack the boat!) Each is equipped with sufficient life jackets, has a sunshade and an ice box.

The river :- Far from the madding crowds runs the Cumbarjua river, a vibrant mangrove habitat. Declared a 'no development zone' to protect its diversified natural beauty, it is 'home' for the Mugger crocodile and a vast number of birds including six species of kingfishers, the Brahminy kite, Green Heron, Night Heron, and various other waders. Besides, many migratory birds like the Osprey, Whitenecked stork, Marsh harrier etc., flock here.

The trip :- An ideal way to spend an exciting day in the company of birds, butterflies and crocodiles.

Unwind, relax, soothe your nerves, or simply admire nature on a boat trip and let Goa's not-so-commonly-known natural beauty spin its magic. Listen, the whispering mangroves are calling !!!
