This birdwatching trip is aimed at acquainting birdwatchers with the maximum number of birds (we estimate an average of 100 species) making optimum use of time.

During this trip, three different habitats will be explored. Namely:

a) Bondla wildlife sanctuary

Habitat: Dense hill forests with streams
Key species: Black eagle, Emerald Dove, Indian edible-nest Swiftlet, Crested Tree Swift, Malabar Trogon, Three-toed Kingfisher, Malabar Grey Hornbill, Speckled Piculet, Fairy Blue Bird, Black headed Yellow BulBul, Greater Racket-tailed Drongo, Velvet fronted Nuthatch, Shama.

b) Carambolim wetlands

Habitat: Grass & Lily covered lakes surrounded by light woodland, paddy fields and marshes.
Key species: Little Cormorant, Oriental Darter, Purple Heron, Whistling teal, Openbill Stork, Whitenecked Stork, Bronze winged Jacana, Pallid Harrier.

c) Ciba Geigy Factory

Habitat: Open lakes with dead trees, used by nesting and roosting birds.
Key species: Indian Shag, Oriental Darter, Night Heron, Asian Open bill Stork, lesser Adjutant Stork, Whistling Teal, Purple Moorhen, Whitenecked Stork.

Experienced guides will help you identify the birds.

Birdwatchers travelling on their own, will not only find transportation an expensive affair, but will also face problems locating ideal bird-watching spots especially at places like Bondla.

Grouping together in small numbers and travelling with experienced guides who are very familiar with the localities, bird-watchers will not only find the trip economical and time saving, but will also find this a great birding experience.
