Admission to medical courses based on NEET: DTE

Panjim: To avoid last minute confusion amongst students, Directorate of Technical Education (DTE) has announced that those seeking admissions to MBBS, BDS, BHMS (Homeopathy), BAMS (Ayurveda), Allied Health Sciences (Paramedical) and Nursing courses in the State for the academic year 2019-20 are required to appear and qualify at National Entrance cum Eligibility Test (NEET UG).

In a circular, DTE clarified that the admissions to BE, BPharm courses will be carried out on the basis of Goa Common Entrance Test (GCET), which will be conducted in the subjects of physics, chemistry and mathematics based on Class XII syllabus of Goa Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education (GBSHSE).

The GCET exams would be held on May 7 and 8. On May 7, students will answer physics in the morning, while in the afternoon it would be chemistry. The mathematics paper is scheduled on May 8. The Class XII exams will be held from March 1 to March 26.

DTE also said that admissions to BArch will be on the basis of scores obtained at NATA (National Aptitude Test in Architecture), conducted by Council of Architecture, and qualifying exam (HSSC). [H]
