Margao: Chairperson of Quepem Municipal Council (QMC), Raul Pereira has maintained that he enjoys support of all the nine councillors of the ruling side in the municipality.
Stating that there wasn’t any agreement on a power-sharing formula for the chairperson’s post as claimed by certain quarters, Pereira told STOI that he would step down if and when he is asked to by Quepem legislator Chandrakant Kavlekar.
In the 11-member council, nine owe allegiance to the Congress, and were elected on the panel floated by Kavlekar. “All nine councillors are supporting me, and I can prove that,” Pereira said on Saturday while refuting reports of instability in the municipality. [TOI]
