Vasco: Bangladesh Coast Guard Director General Rear Admiral Aurangzeb Choudhury and Indian Coast Guard officials held a high level meeting on augmenting the operational level interaction and capacity building on Wednesday.
Augmenting the operational level interaction between the two coast guards was in area of search and rescue, pollution response and maritime law enforcement.
During his two-day visit to Goa, Choudhury was hosted by Deputy Inspector General Himanshu Nautiyal, Coast Guard District (Goa) hosted the Rear Admiral at Goa.
During the visit, Choudhury interacted with Indian Coast Guard Officers and also visited Goa Shipyard Limited.
Prior to Goa visit, Choudhury had a high level meeting with Indian Coast Guards Director General Rajendra Singh, at New Delhi.
Relation between the two Coast Guards go back a long way with ICG Ships visiting Bangladesh for professional interactions since 2003. The bilateral cooperation has been institutionalized with the signing of Memorandum of Understanding in June 2015.
The visit of the Bangladesh delegation is in continuation of the efforts by the governments of the two countries to enhance cooperation between the Coast Guards in the field of the maritime safety and security at Sea. [H]
