Panjim: Congress party’s latest protest demanding a full-time Chief Minister for the State was the focus of BJP’s weekly review meeting on Monday.
The meeting, attended by Urban Development Minister Francis D’Souza, Health Minister Vishwajit Rane and other senior office bearers, discussed the sudden rise of the opposition.
Emerging from the meeting, D’Souza claimed it to be a “routine” weekly meeting to review of the situation.Sources revealed that the meeting held a detailed discussion on the Congress’ protest held on Sunday ahead of BJP national president Amit Shah’s visit, demanding a fulltime Chief Minister for the State.
“Last one week, Congress has become quite active and it is a cause of concern for the party. At the same time, as an opposition, it is their duty to corner the government and those in ruling. The meeting concluded that the party should not get rattled by the Congress moves,” sources said.
After Girish Chodankar took over as the Congress State President, the opposition has been raising various issues pertaining to the State government’s function. The party has been consistent its demand for fulltime Chief Minister in absence of ailing Manohar Parrikar. [H]
