General
Information
I) Nature and Objectives of
Casa de Goa
1. Casa de Goa is a non-profit, non-political
private entity. It is also not associated with any
particular religion. It was founded in 1987.
2. By decree from the
Portuguese Prime Minister, Casa de Goa was officially
declared Pessoa Colectiva de utilidade Publica.
3. The following are the main
objectives of Casa de Goa:
a. To promote activities that help
to preserve the identity of the Cultures of Goa, Damão
and Diu;
b. To encourage research in various areas that
consubstantiate that identity and encourage to spread the
same through all means possible.;
c. To develop interchange with all other similar
Associations;
d. To promote collaboration with other Portuguese and
Indian organizations devoted to the investigation of the
luso-indian culture;
e. To make the younger generations aware of the need to
preserve the cultural values of Goa, Damão and Diu.

The first part (the one at ground level)
has an area of 35m x 12.5 m and is at the moment
undergoing renovation and being divided into various
divisions, which are expected to be at the disposal of
Casa de Goa, namely::
HALL FOR CONFERENCES AND EXHIBITIONS
CENTER FOR CULTURAL AND SCIENTIFIC DOCUMENTATION
BOARDROOM
OFFICE AND GENERAL MEETING ROOM
HALL FOR SOCIAL ACTIVITIES AND GAMES
BAR
WCs
The second part (at ground level) consists of 5 ateliers
next to each other with an area of approximately 24sq. m.
and bathrooms..
The third part (under ground level) will be made into a
Restaurant with a capacity for 64 people and endowed with
ample space for the kitchen, pantry, bathrooms for
employees etc.
The fourth part will be a small museum. The only museum
piece it contains at the moment is a part of the original
wall. The municipality of Lisbon intends that the museum
be used together with Casa de Goa.
