CDJ Ribandar beat Betalbatim to enter semis

Benaulim: CDJ Ribandar got the better of Betalbatim SC 2-1 to move into the semi-finals of the 42nd Cana-Benaulim Soccer, organised by Cana-Benaulim Sporting Association and played at Sao Joao Baptist ground, Dando-Benaulim, on Thursday.

CDJ Ribandar started the match on the front foot and should have scored early in the game through defender Vikram Balekar, however, his well-executed free-kick was palmed away to safety by Betalbatim keeper Micky Antao in the 1st minute.

Four minutes later, Ribandar were awarded a penalty when Betalbatim defender brought down CDJ Ribandar player in the box. Salu Santos stepped over and coolly converted for Ribandar to open the account. The winners led 1-0 at the break.

CDJ Ribandar doubled the lead through Vishal Adkonkar in the 39th minute. Selio Fernandes pulled a goal back for Betalbatim in the final minute of the game. CDJ Ribandar will now meet the winner of United Club of Nerul and SC Davorlim in the semi-final on August 7. [H]
