| All Goans love the land of their forefathers and are
passionately concerned about the deterioration of the pristine
surroundings of their old family homes due to unplanned growth. At the
same time, they would like the people of Goa to prosper through
sustainable development.
The International Centre, Goa has been established on the lines of the India International Centre, New Delhi, to bring together thinkers, scholars and academics, achievers, sociologists, industrialists and creative people from India and around the world to look at the larger issues before the New World and to develop new technologies and perspectives for handling change. The centre provides facilities for local, national and international meetings, seminars, conferences and workshops initiated directly, or in collaboration with other organisations. It also hosts cultural events and stages, performances of dance, theatre and other cultural activities designed to promote, encourage and preserve the Goan and national heritage. The Centre is situated on the Dona Paula plateau near Goa University and has 44 residential rooms, two conference halls and bar and restaurant facilities. The Goan diaspora has resulted in a visible Goan Presence world wide, which is a great source of strength and inspiration. Unfortunately, this remains largely un-tapped. The Centre proposes to be a nodal point to co-ordinate the activities of overseas Indians, specially Goans, to facilitate the exchange of information and ideas and to promote sustainable development. The process cannot be too slow in today's fast changing scenario and Goa would need a "kick-start" to ensure it does not lag behind. The Centre will specially be looking at overseas Goans who can, when they come
to Goa, visit the Centre and spare time to share their views on their area
of specialisation / activities they are involved in overseas. It could
also lead to joint activities both commercial and social / cultural to
mutual benefit. It could be their contribution to the sustainable
development of the land of their forefathers. For further details and to indicate your willingness to
participate, email The
