Panaji: The Congress Legislature Party (CLP) came down heavily against the government for not taking into confidence the stakeholders on the draft CRZ notification. It stated that a public hearing should have been held on the issue as people had raised several concerns. Goa Pradesh Congress Committee president Girish Chodankar said the chief minister has been mum on the issue and is under pressure to please the Gujarat lobby.
“CM’s silence speaks a lot that he’s under pressure to sell Goa. The issue should have been discussed during the Assembly session. Why is the session being held if issues are not discussed?” Chodankar said, adding that panchayats were not taken into confidence. He even questioned the silence of Goa Forward Party over the notification.
CLP leader Chandrakant Kavlekar said the party has already put forward two rounds of legislative assembly questions and another is in the offing. He said the members will sit together again to decide on the replies. Senior Congress leader Pratapsingh Rane has put in a Calling Attention on the ketamine issue which all other MLAs have signed, he said.
St Cruz MLA Tony Fernandes said the government and police were aware of the drug racket but aren’t exposing it. Ketamine, a date rape drug is responsible for the increase in rapes in Goa, he said. [TOI]
