Cong moves HC against project owned by CM’s son

Panjim: The Congress has moved High Court against eco-tourism project owned by Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar’s son Abhijat at Netravali in Sanguem taluka alleging arbitrary grant of approvals to the project leading to destruction of eco-fragile area.

The party has blamed successive BJP-led state governments for allowing and shielding the illegality in the guise of eco-tourism project, which was approved way back in 2015.

Addressing media persons on Wednesday Congress’ legal cell chairman Carlos Ferreira said a public interest litigation has been filed in High Court pleading to stop any further activities at the project site and to direct restoration of forest land and further penalisation for destruction of green cover.

Pointing to series of violation by the project proponent Hideaway Hospitality owned by Abhijat, Ferreira said the project was granted approvals in arbitrary manner overruling the central regulations with regards to eco-sensitive zones. [H]
