Panjim: Taking strong exception to the Congress statement, Goa Forward party said that the Congress has always been a party of “Delhiwalas”.
Pointing to a statement by GPCC president Girish Chodankar that his party would revert Section 16B amendments under TCP Act if they come to power, Goa Forward general secretary Prashant Naik said that sounded “ridiculous”.
“Firstly, Congress should not even dream about coming to power as this government is very stable,” he said, and added that the motive behind the 16B amendment is to give justice to the people whose land was converted from settlement to No Development Zone in RP 2021.
“7 crore sq meter of land was converted to NDZ from settlement, while on the other hand 11 crore sq metre land from NDZ was converted to settlement,” he said adding, “this was done to just to favour the Delhiwalas.”
Party vice-president Dilip Prabhudesai said that even former chief minister Digambar Kamat and Luizinho Faleiro have not opposed the move. “If Congress is so concerned why did they not oppose the amendments in the Assembly? Why was Opposition Leader Babu Kavalekar quiet?” he asked. [H]
