FIFTH COLUMNIST IN GOA

                        Lisbon, December 1.  1946

A Political statue for Goa, which would give that possession the same status as a Province of Metropolitan Portugal, has been demanded by Dr. Floraino Melo, Indian intellectual and Deputy for Goa in the National Assembly.  Frequent cheers interrupted the Indian Deputy as he spoke of conditions in Goa.

Goa “is surrounded by hostile atmosphere,” Dr. Melo said, adding “it is necessary to make known to all the people and governments of the world that our India is and will continue to be Portuguese and to destroy forever the legend that Portuguese territory requires British India to enable to it and subsist.”

Referring to the unrest in Goa.  Dr. Melo explained that this was caused by a few “Fifth Columnists and Nazis, and intellectuals educated in central Europe and Fanatics who had failed in life, who preach the absorption of Goa and foment hatred to the Portuguese nation.”

The National Assembly unanimously approved the motion of solidarity with the Government and people of Goa (Reuter.)

FIFTH COLUMNIST IN GOA

Sir, -- Jai Hind. Who is this Dr. Floraino Melo, “Indian intellectual and Deputy for Goa in the Portuguese National Assembly?”  Sir, he is a vulture feeding on the carcass of a rotting Portuguese Empire, a Windbag, dissembling traitor, and an open enemy, who is guilty of an unpardonable levity.

This Asiatic Quisling states that, “Goa is surrounded by hostile atmosphere,” indeed it is and shall continue hostile towards the Portuguese Imperialists, Nazis and Barbarians.  It is time that the Portuguese learn to view their record in Gomantak more objectively than has been their habit in the past.  It ought to be recognized and understood that Portugal has ruined Gomantak’s prosperity, manliness, culture, religion, arrested her economic development and kept poor, loving Gomantak in abject misery as one vast rural slum.  She shall however, rise to glory again.

Referring to the unrest in Goa, Quisling Melo explained that, “it is due to the fifth Columnist”.  This statement is an irony for the Gods to laugh, provocating an insult to National Gomantak.  Such tactics may deceive the foreign public but only amuse the Gomantakies.  If it can crush the National Movement, I have a blue print for the invasion of Mars.

Our time shall come to Settle Accounts with Quislings and we shall not forget to demand an Account from this unworthy son who has sunk to the depths of distortion and fabrication, to be brought before a tribunal of an independent and national Gomantak.

Long live our glorious Motherland, its Revolution for a free and Independent Gomantak.

Jai Hind
