GULAB AWARDS 1996

GULAB Awards 1996 which are annually presented by the popular Konkani monthly magazine GULAB have been announced.

These awards are chosen by the readers who select the personalities of their choice.

The prestigious Man of the Year award which is given to the Goan personality doing yeoman service in social, political, cultural or any other field has gone to MP CHURCHILL ALEMAO.

The five other awards for different personalities of the Konkani stage are as follows:
Best Writer JOHN D'SILVA
Best Director ROSEFERNS;
Best Music Director (band leader) JOSINHO;
Best Actor PRINCE JACOB
and Best Actress ANTONETTE DE CALANGUTE.
The Sportsman of the Year Award has gone to BRUNO COUTINHO.

There are also two other awards namely the KUWAIT KONKANI KENDR AWARD for the Best Konkani Writer of the Year which has been this year awarded to
F R. MORENO DE SOUZA S.J
and the NEW GOAN OVERSEAS ASSOCIATION KUWAIT AWARD which has been awarded to DILIP BORCAR.

These awards were presented to the above mentioned personalitiies on August 15th. at Margao Municipal Hall at the hands of TOMAZINHO CARDOZO Speaker of the Goa Assembly. Posted on Goa-Net by:
