Expert panel to discuss GA allegations

The five-member expert committee will meet on Wednesday to deliberate on the letter submitted by Goencho Avaaz demanding that the operation of the Regional Plan 2021 be stayed and criminal action be initiated against those involved in illegal conversion of land and also granting permission for the same.

Goencho Avaaz, that had named 14 politicians for their alleged involvement in illegal land conversions, was issued a notice by TCP’s five-member expert committee, constituted to inquire into the allegations. The NGO last week submitted its reply to the committee member Chief Town Planner Rajesh Naik.

In their demands, Goencho Avaaz asked TCP to immediately stay the operation of RP 21 and to ensure that restrictions of RP 2001 and RP 21 are in force. It also demanded criminal action against violators of law and those responsible for putting in operation RP 21 via a order dated March 28, 2018. It has demanded that permissions granted post March 28 should be cancelled. [H]
