Panjim: Three lecture halls with a seating capacity of 1200 persons have been proposed at Goa Medical College (GMC).
Health Minister Vishwajit Rane on Wednesday announced that the foundation stone for the project, the total cost of which is around Rs 19.11 crore, will be laid on January 14. Rane said the lecture halls on three floors will have a total of 1200 seats, locker facility, spacious lobby and other amenities.
The first two lecture halls will have seating capacity of 300 each while the third floor lecture hall will accommodate 600 persons.
“All the lecture halls will be fully air-conditioned with ceiling mounted projectors and power screen. We are working towards providing better amenities and facilities for the betterment of the people,” Rane said. GMC, the State’s only medical college, has three lecture halls at present.
Also, the foundation stone for the second phase of the Institute of Psychiatry and Human Behaviour (IPHB) Complex at Bambolim at a cost of Rs 50 crore giving an additional 100 beds would be laid on same day. The project will come up on 4,000 sq mtrs of land adjacent to the existing IPHB building.
Both projects will be taken up by Goa State Infrastructure Development Corporation. [H]
