The Goan Overseas Association is a Not-For-Profit Corporation, duly incorporated under the laws of the State of Illinois.

The Objectives of the Association is to:

· Preserve the Goan heritage, and revive the Goan ethnic culture.

· Foster fellowship and brotherhood.

· Advance the standing of the Goan community and foster friendly relation with residents of the Chicagoland

· Develop the Goan youth in leadership and self-esteem.

· Facilitate information interchange of Goans in furtherance of the objectives.

The state of Goa lies on the south west cost of India.  Many people from Goa have now settled in many parts of the world including the United States.

The majority members of the association’s  reside in the Chicago land area

The Goan character is in a state a flux and any attempts to distill a single pure identity will result in multiple offerings just like the numerous flavors of 'pure' feni available in the streets of Goa.

However a common strain is that it is not difficult to find a Goan who has deep love for our motherland and will not strike his/her chest and declare proudly,

"Hanv Goenkar".
