VOL.2-NO.4: JUNE 2000

EDWORDS
The Great Green June rings in a lot of wonderful changes in Goa.

COVER STORY
Unprecedented bomb blast rock St Andrew's Church in Vasco da Gama.

UWRITE
This month, we were suddenly flooded with email messages. We opened them with trepditation and lapped up every compliment that came our way.

GREETINGS
Like the ripples in a placid stream, our greetings programme is gaining quite a lot of ground every new month.

VIEWPOINT
Alister Miranda and Joel panned their cameras and clicked a few fine sights or your eyes.

FESTIVALS
Milagrichem Fest in Mapusa and Shirgoumchi Zatra in Sirigao are very important festivals to Catholics and Hindus respectively. But there is a legend linking the two.

FLOODS IN GOA
After a lapse of about 45 years, flash floods devastated parts of the talukas of Sanquelim and Sattari in North Goa, leaving behind a trail of misery.

FOCUS
Nineteen convicts and undertrials woke up faithfully at 4 am, meditated 8 to 10 hours daily and went to bed at 9.30 pm.

MUSIC
Goans make music wherever they reach. Here's Jose Rod doing it in the Gulf.

ENTERTAINMENT
In the entertainment section, it's former Speaker of the Goa Assembly, Tomazinho Cardozo, making waves once again with his formidable plays...a Konkani comedy...Hello Doctor...this time.

NOT RIGHT
Likely to be a regular, juicy column if the columnist is not busy enough.

PINPOINT
Remember, the volatile Aires Rodrigues is back home after roaming the seven seas, yearning to right a few wrongs afflicting us.

FRIDAY BALCAO
After a summer sabattical in May 2000, the Friday Balcao will be busy once again.

OBITUARIES
Many more people have left for the unknown shores up above this month.

ARSO
Novelist-musician Bonaventure D'Pietro and I had a conversation with Alfred Rose and Rita at Mapusa. Alfie has recovered from his sickness. But D'Pietro is struggling at the GMC with both kidneys badly affected.

We thank VICTOR FERNANDES, Siolim, for coming forward to sponsor a feature, and MERLYN MIRANDA for compiling the Greetings page.
