"The Role of Konkani Projects in the Development of Konkani" came up for highlighting at the seminar-cum-exhibition organised by the Rosary College of Commerce and Arts in Navelim in February last.

The exhibition of Konkani projects was inaugurated by Goa Konkani Akademi president Uday Bhembre. A wide variety of Konkani projects, submitted by the students of the Third Year Bachelor of Arts degree from Goa's several colleges. This sort of rare display was probably held for the first time anywhere as far as mothertongue Konkani is concerned.

Dr. Arun Heblekar, ex-registrar of the Goa Unviersity and principal of PES College, Farmagudi, inaugurated the seminar.

Rosary College and its dynamic principal, Newman Fernandes, definitely deserve laurels because the institution not only excels in the promotion of higher education but takes active interest in various socio-cultural aspects. It often conducts various seminars, exhibitions and meets on crucial topics, which all educational institutions need to promote but rarely do.

Fernandes emphasised the fact that today's generation needs to work for the betterment and uplift of their mother tongue.
