River Princess

River Princess
By Antonio P. Fernandes
casablanca@primus.com.au

Her life so full,
Once filled to the brim
Sailed the seven seas,
To suit his every whim.

In and out harbours
Along she went,
Ending each day totally spent.
Crippled, body so old,
Of no use today,
All of her just
Breaking away.

Lying on the sands,
Bleeding away,
Forgotten by the King,
Who used her every day.

None expected it of him,
Least of all her,
To leave in the mess
This dying 'River Princess'.
