HelloGoa, a tiny parcel of land on India's West Coast of India has provided inspiration to umpteen writers every now and then. David Tomory, a British tourist, who's been visiting Goa since 1976, attempts another deep look at Goa, panning the entire undulating landscape from politics to geography.

From Tomory's well studied perspective, Goa resembles less Indian and more of what foreigners will it appear. From the time Goa began attracting adventurers by sea and air, nomads, Aryans, to the Portuguese (whose rule lasted 450 years), to the Hippies in the 1960s, it seems to be continuously conquered by one set of people or ideas or other, who have brought in their own shade of influence.

The underlying thread of the Tomory's readable narrative dwells liberally on the transformation tourism as brought about in Goa. He allows the people speak out their mind and most of them seem to stand up for the new order of cash economy.
