GOAN IN THE MILLENNIUM DIRECTORY

GOANS abroad, in recent years, have been busy collating information about their native place and this is a sure, good sign that eventually a realisation is dawning on the Goan diaspora that one needs to learn and be aware of one's land and its roots. In this context, a 300-page "International Goan in the Millennium Directory" has been published by Lazarus Pereira. It was printed in Toronto and has already gone on sale.

The highly informative Directory takes off with the Basilio Magno's song "Proud to be Goan". Put together by a small steering group led by Fr Terence D'Souza, Pastor of Saint Francis Xavier Church in Mississauga, it contains articles on Goan history, culture and customs, penned by prominent Goan writers.

Included in the directory are names of more than 2000 Goans worldwide, Goan songs and recipes, an 80-page listing of parishes and churches of Goa, a yellow page section of ads from Goan-owned or managed enterprises and professional services.

For copies one may contact (in Toronto and Greater Toronto): Evelyn de Souza 905 270 9165, West End, and Cecil D'Cruz 416 431 9549, East End. However, it will also be on sale at Goa events and socials. For overseas booking, email to goandirectory@goacom.com Already more than 1050 copies have been pre-sold.
