The late NEVILLE DE SOUZA,
originally from Assagao, has the unique distinction of scoring a
hat-trick for India in the Olympics. He scored it against Australia
in Melbourne in 1956 in the quarterfinals. Having secured the
honours for his country, Neville left the world, almost unsung.
However, his brother DERYK DE SOUZA, another international
who scored a hat-trick at Merdeka against China in 1964 and is the
longest surviving coach, is still living BUT is caught in a deep
personal problem. His wife Rosette, a top Mumbai hockey player in
her prime, is suffering from Plurosis and other problems. Deryk has
exhausted all his resources for her medical treatment and would SOON
know not from where to get the next paisa for his wife's treatment.
