Sky
Tones
I do not know how the sky looks
like at other, more beautiful places in the world. Perhaps
people reading this, in some other part of the world, may
write to inform inform me about it. However, in Goa, the sky
offers wondrous shades, which no human painter could ever
achieve to obtain on his canvas.

This picture was taken on a
warm evening last month, from the Regina Terrace where Alexyz
lives in Siolim. It was clicked from his upper floor balcony
just a few moments before the sunset. The fishermen say that
when the sky turns crimson at sunset, their catch is bound to
be bounteous.

Come October and the sky scene
changes, becomes bright by shedding its monsoon grey. The
azure returns to the sky after a long hibernation. Fluffy
white clouds fly gracefully across it. It signifies fair
weather for all. The second picture too has a tall coconut
tree, beyond the roof of my house in Assagao.

The sunset is quite a heavenly
sight by all counts. The third picture shows how it looks like
from the bridge of the river Mandovi, which the sun behind the
Verem plateau.

Talking about pictures, I
happened to come across a new photography studio, which I was
told, was inaugurated in Mapusa, near the Goa Bank, last
month. There is no dearth of such studios in Goa's
cities. However, what is special about this new appearance in
the Friday Bazaar city, is that the studio is a part of the
great Souza & Paul tradition. The veterans are in
photography business, in Panjim city, since 1884.
The visits are also a little
more exciting because with every film roll of Kodak "Gold",
brought for developing and printing, one could get a gold coin
free from a weekly draw.
