Guv extends Durga Puja greetings

Panjim: Governor Dr Mridula Sinha has extended warm greetings and best wishes to the people of Goa on the auspicious occasion of Durga Puja on Monday.

In her message, the Governor said, “Durga Puja celebrates the triumph of good over the evil. This festival is meant to honour the power of female Shakti – Maa Durga. This festival is an event of great passion and zeal for Indians and overseas. Worshiping Goddess Durga helps devotees to remove fear, negative energy and negative thoughts as well as to get a peaceful life. The complete image of Goddess Durga represents destruction of evil and protection of good and reflects the point that no matter how powerful the evil forces are, victory will always be of the virtuous. Thus, by worshiping Durga the idea of ruthless destruction is invoked to annihilate all the evil desires and unfold divinity. Nine day long celebrations are devoted to the worship of Mother Goddess in her different avatars and forms which, to my mind, is nothing but Mother Nature in its different forms. The observations of fasting by believers coupled with religious devotion, leads to the purification of soul and rejuvenation of body, the Governor added.

She further said that the celebrations of Durga Puja bring prosperity, peace and joy to one and all.

and strengthen the social and cultural harmony in our beautiful State of Goa and the country. I pray for well being of all and invoke Godess Durga by reciting the Shloka.” [H]
