Honey Chili Potato Recipe

4 large potatoes as wedges
vegetable oil for deep frying
1 tbl spoon ginger paste
2 tbl spoons of chopped garlic
bulbs of spring onions
1 tsp salt
1 and 1/2 tsp red chili flakes
1/2 tsp sugar
1 and 1/2 tbl spoons of white vinegar
2 tbl spoons of sweet chili sauce
1 and 1/2 tbl spoon honey
green stalks of spring onions for garnish
sesame seeds for garnish


1) peel the potatoes, dice them into long thick cubes like wedges, wash them and soak them over a kitchen towel until dry.
2) in a wok add enough oil to deep fry your potato wedges, this would take around 2-3 minutes, make sure you don’t deep fry them until they are golden brown, just deep fry them until they are 80% done, strain the oil, keep the potato wedges aside.
3) in another wok add 1 tbl spoon of sesame oil, when the oil is hot enough add ginger paste and chopped garlic.
4) in no time add bulbs of spring onions, do not cook these onions for a long time, just for a minute.
5) add salt, red chili flakes, sugar, white vinegar, toss all these condiments and ingredients in the wok.
6) follow by adding sweet chili sauce, honey, add the fried potato wedges and toss everything in the wok.
7) make sure after you have added the fried potato wedges you don’t cook for a long time, because the potatoes would turn tender and break apart, you would like them to be crisp at the same time a little moist because of the sauce.
garnish with green stalks of spring onions and sesame seeds, toss for a few seconds and serve hot, enjoy !
