MICKEY CORREIA, the great Goan jazzman, would have been 98 years old today – 26th Sept 2011 - but breathed his last on 22nd Sept . The legendary musician from Moira in North Goa (India), regaled audiences in Karachi, Mumbai and elsewhere. The Mombasa-born superb reedman played alongside music greats like Louis Armstrong, Duke Ellington, Dave Brubeck and others. Goan convention in London to discuss environment degradation back home

Panaji, July 17 (IANS) Thousands of Goans scattered all over the world will converge in London next week to voice concerns over rampant mining and corruption in Goa and issues related to job security and unemployment faced by the diaspora.

The Global Goans Convention (GGC), scheduled to begin in Britain July 22, is being hosted by diaspora groups in association with the Goa government and is being held in tandem with the UK Goan festival.

Canada’s Ontario Government funds expansion of Hindu temple

Ontario Government in Canada is reportedly helping cover the costs of the expansion of Devi Mandir in Pickering (Ontario).

The reports suggest that the Mandir organization will receive over $422,000 for upgrades, repairs, renovation and installation of the solar panel roof system. Funds are said to be coming from Ontario’s Community Capital Fund.

The answer that I got in my childhood years was right in principle i.e. Taxes are needed for the state and its citizens: for sustenance, development and constructive progress. However I would like to ask this Question again today i.e. Why Pay Taxes in Goa or rather Why pay so high Taxes in Goa?
Should we pay Taxes from our hard earned income for the following?
