the infamous 'black dollar' racket, who fled from custody
in Goa, has been recently re-arrested in Guwahati...The
gang gets its name from a heist in Goa in which its members
used "black dollars" (black paper cut to dollar
size) to dupe a hotelier. The gang convinced the hotelier
to pay them $3,000, promising to double his money. They
left him with a stack of "black dollars" which
they said would turn into $6,000 if he stored it in the
refrigerator. "They even told the hotelier that the
black paper would turn into genuine notes when soaked

It's
either the husband or the wife
CANACONA:
If it is not the wives, it is the husbands. That seems
to be the principle, which governs who among the husband
and wife duo enters the fray in municipal polls. And this
can be seen clearly in Canacona Municipal Council polls.
Two former councillors, who had
to quit the contest as the reservation for female candidates
has been lifted, have somehow ensured their family involvement
in local politics. (GT)
