Fr Ferrao's murder: Two set free
MARGAO: The South Goa Additional District and Sessions judge, on November 17, acquitted Manish Dubey (20) and Amit Shukla (21), the two accused in the alleged murder of Fr Eusebio Ferrao at Macazana in 2006.
While the duo was arrested by the Maina Curtorim police for the priest's alleged murder in the latter's quarters in the Macazana church premises, depositions by witnesses in course of the trial has thrown up the possibility that the deceased priest had sexually abused them.
Judge Thali, in her order, stated that the prosecution had failed to link the chain of circumstances vis-a-vis the accused having committed the crime, leaving scope for doubt.
The prosecution had argued that both accused Dubey and Shukla on intervening night of March 17 and 18, 2006, had committed the murder of Fr Eusebio Ferrao, parish priest of St Francis Xavier's Church, Macazana, by suffocating him and inflicting injuries on him with a knife. [GT
