Just who is ABBE FARIA?
Isabel Santa Rita Vas and Cecil Pinto's documentary, In Search of Abbe Faria, focuses on many aspects of this larger-than-life Goan through a series of interviews with people that are quite knowledgeable about him. However, they also show us the other side of the picture, by posing questions to random candidates from the countless passersby who walk past the statue as they go on with their daily lives. "Just who is Abbe Faria?" The question got a volley of answers that were stupendous but interesting, with some thinking he was a mythical character! Though lack of enough information might have led to this state of affairs, the fact remains that Abbe Faria is considered by many to be the greatest son Goa has ever borne, and it seems like a waste that the successive generations look flummoxed when they're asked, "Who is Abbe Faria?"
