Jumbo Prawns Fry Recipe

Jumbo Prawns marinated with ginger garlic paste, lemon and other Indian spices and shallow fried to serve hot with dipping sauce of your choice and salad.


10 jumbo prawns, shelled and deveined
2 tsp salt
1 and 1/2 tsp red chili powder
1/4 tsp cumin/jeera powder
1 and 1/2 tsp coriander powder
1/2 tsp turmeric powder
2 lemon’s juice
1/2 tbl spoon sesame/mustard oil
2 tbl spoons ginger garlic paste
300 ml sesame/mustard oil for shallow fry
1/2 cup of semolina/sooji
1/4 cup of rice powder/flour


1) shell and devein the prawns, rinse in water keep aside
2) prepare the marinade by mixing together in a bowl, salt, red chili powder, turmeric powder, coriander powder, lemon juice, ginger garlic paste, little sesame/mustard oil and cumin powder.
3) apply this mixture you prepared in step 2, to the prawns nicely by coating them thoroughly and leave aside to marinade for 30 minutes.
4) after 30 mins, make a mixture in a plate by mixing semolina and rice powder/flour and coat the prawns one by one in this dry mixture and shallow fry them in oil for 3 minutes on each side.
5) serve hot with your favorite dipping sauce, and salads, enjoy !

Tip : remember to shell and devein the prawns.
