The chief coordinator of 3rd Lusofonia Games, superintendent of police, traffic cell, Mr Vijay Singh on Saturday visited various grounds including Tilak Stadium in Vasco in order to inspect the ongoing works at the Games venues.
Mr Singh was accompanied by three coordination committee members, Mr Sammy Tavares, deputy superintendent of police, crime branch; Mr Sagar Ekoskar, police inspector, Goa Reserve Police and Ms Sandhya Gupta, police sub-inspector as the team visited Nehru Stadium at Fatorda, new GMC athletic ground at Bambolim, Goa University ground at Taleigao Plateau, Peddem ground in Mapusa and the beach volleyball venue at Miramar, the venues for the Games to be held in November.
Mr Arvind Gawas, superintendent of police, headquarters; Mr Shekhar Prabhudessai, superintendent of police, South Goa; Mr Mahesh Gaonkar, deputy superintendent of police, Quepem and Mr Siddhant Shirodkar, police inspector, Curchorem also accompanied the three-member coordination team.
Speaking to the media at Tilak Stadium, Vasco, Mr Singh said, “We will see closely into the security aspect of the stadium and, if required, would propose for modifications during the construction and upgradation of the venues.”
He told that the committee appointed by the government will see that the stadium structures are built at the right height keeping in mind the security needs. Mr Singh also disclosed that the team will come out with a plan for proper parking arrangements around the Games venues. [NT]
