Panaji: BJP spokesperson and Curchorem MLA Nilesh Cabral said here on Tuesday that chief minister Manohar Parrikar will return to Goa on June 15, more than three months after he went to the US for medical treatment.
Later in the day, the chief minister’s office also confirmed to TOI that Parrikar would be returning to Goa after getting doctors in the US allowed him to travel. Cabral told reporters that a lot of issues that have been pending will be redressed after Parrikar returns from the US where he is undergoing treatment.
On June 3, Parrikar, speaking exclusively to TOI had said that he was recovering well and that he would return to Goa within 15-20 days.
Cabral said once Parrikar returns, they would discuss the mining issue with him and file an intervention application.
“We are going back to the Supreme Court. However, it will not be a curative or review petition but an intervention application asking the court to give the state government time till 2020 to work out a practical solution,” he said.
Cabral said mining companies, too, would be a party to it. “It is a question of livelihood of about 50,000 people who have directly been hit by the stoppage of mining,” he said. [TOI]
