Assonora: There is finally some good news for the people of Assonora who have been experiencing problems while travelling every day. The works of the long-pending bypass road from Mulgao to Assonora will finally commence post monsoon. Although it was approved a while ago no work was undertaken because it was not followed up on the same.
The village of Assonora has been facing severe traffic congestion due to the narrow State Highway which passes through the village. People have their shops and houses on either side of the roads barely leaving any space for people to walk and vehicles to ply smoothly. The roads are so narrow that two big vehicles cannot pass by together without one having to halt. The stretch in front of Assonora bus stand always turns out to be a bottle-neck on this route especially during the peak hours. To add to the misery of the commuters the road also is seen having pot holes at several places.
The village of Assonora, comprising of nine wards suffers from traffic congestion as no steps had been taken to address this problem. The main road that passes through this village connects people from Mapusa to Bicholim and vice-versa. There are several traffic jams witnessed during the day. [H]
