New Goa-Hyderabad 4-lane road sanctioned

Panjim: The Central government has sanctioned a new four-lane road from Goa to Hyderabad, PWD Minister Ramkrishna (Sudin) Dhavalikar disclosed on Monday.

Dhavalikar said the project has been sanctioned under the Bharatmala project. “The road from Panjim to Chorla will be widened to four-lanes and will pass through Belgaum, Bijapur and reach Hyderabad,” he said. The actual cost of the project is not known, he said.

On the road passing through Mhadei wildlife sanctuary, he said, “The Union ministry will take the forest and wildlife clearance and we have no role to play.”

He also said that works worth more than Rs 20 cr have been sanctioned to each constituency and the work orders will be issued soon. Dhavalikar said every constituency, whether ruling or opposition, has been sanctioned works worth Rs 20 crore.

He said that by September or October the work orders will be issued for hot-mixing and new roads and by May 15 the works should end. [H]
