Panjim: After the initial chaos, the Corporation of the City of Panaji (CCP) on Thursday received a total of 295 applications for running stalls for the Panjim feast which will be celebrated on December 8. CCP has decided to allow the fair at Campal Parade ground from December 7-10.
On Wednesday, CCP had distributed around 200 forms for running stalls during the fair. However, the same had to be scrapped following news that around 7000 forms were illegally distributed. The Corporation has lodged and FIR with Panjim police in this regard.
Addressing media persons, CCP Commissioner Ajit Roy said that all the forms, which were distributed on Wednesday, are scrapped and on Thursday morning 325 new forms were distributed. “By evening, total 295 forms have been received by us. We are scrutinizing it and tomorrow, we will allot the stalls using lottery system,” he said.
Roy said that no stalls with eatables will be allowed as it would be difficult for the corporation to deal with garbage menace at the ground. “Also, we would request the stall owners not to operate the business till late as there is no electricity at the ground,” he stated. A maximum of 12 sq mtrs area will be allotted per stall at a rate of rupees 30 per sq mtrs. [H]
