Panaji: Goa Suraksha Yuva Manch, the youth wing of political party Goa Suraksha Manch, on Thursday said the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) should expel its party member Vasudev Parab with immediate effect. The directorate of revenue intelligence busted a Rs 40 crore drug smuggling racket and seized 67kg of narcotic substances at a unit operating from Pissurlem industrial estate, allegedly owned by BJP North Goa general secretary Parab.
“He should be sacked immediately and arrested. On one hand, the BJP is saying that it is cracking down on the drug trade in the state, and on the other hand its own party member is engaging in it,” said Nitin Phaldesai of Goa Suraksha Yuva Manch.
Atamaram Gaonkar said human trafficking is rampant in the state.“Girls, often minors, are trafficked to Goa with the lure of a job. They are then pushed into prostitution in casinos and hotels,” he said. [TOI]
