Parrikar calls party workers to counter false propaganda

Panjim: Setting the tone for the Lok Sabha elections 2019, Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar on Monday called upon the BJP Karyakarta’s to buck up to counter opposition’s false propaganda against the saffron party regime, while also appealing to them to approach cross sections of society, especially minorities, with the present government’s achievements both at Centre and State.

In his first interaction with party workers since returning from the USA, Parrikar was choked with tears as he began his speech in Panjim. “When I got up initially to address you all, I was in tears. I have not met the worker for last four months. But I expect, that I would be able to visit at least some villages and meet the workers after the monsoons,” he said as he kicked-off the campaign for the Lok Sabha polls.

Addressing hundreds of party workers, Parrikar said they were gathered to ensure that BJP wins both Lok Sabha seats and the enthusiasm shows that we will win.

“The present era is of information technology. There is lot of news coming through social media. Fake news is also part of it and we have seen how many people have even lost their lives due to such fake news,” Chief Minister said as he took dig at Congress in Goa for fake news and propaganda against the government.
Parrikar said there is need to be strong to answer the false propaganda that is being spread through various means.

“Initially, when I came to power, people used to create an impression that I am an arrogant person. Congress is expert in spreading such misinformation. The party workers should know how to respond to them during the upcoming Lok Sabha campaign,” the Chief Minister said.

He rued that there are some wrong campaigns run by opposition parties, which needs to be tackled by workers. “We need to be active and vocal. For example, when they speak against ‘Regional Plan’ they should know that it was then Congress CM Digambar Kamat which had notified it. The casinos are brought in by Congress in Goa. The permission to allow coal handling at Mormugao Port Trust was also given by the Congress party,” he said.

Stating that the karyakarta’s will have to slog for the next eight-nine months to ensure the party’s win, Parrikar said that they will have to approach society, specially minorities as attempts are made to instigate the community against us. [H]
