Traditional Goan house

This is what a typicial "old style" Goan house looks like. Most houses in Goa (even today) have their roofs constructed with red "manglorean" tiles. Manglore is a city in Karnataka. Also notice that the long stairway leads to a balcony also known as a "balcao" in Konkani and Portuguese.
In the foreground, an "auto-rickshaw" or simply "rickshaw" is visible. It is a common and cheap form of transportation in India. Its characteristic yellow roof and black body identifies it as a registered taxi. This paint scheme is also observed by most automobile taxis thoughout the country.
