[GOACOM-PICTURES]
Naguesh Temple

This is one of the rare Hindu temples that is not a "migrant" in the sense that it was moved from another part of Goa to save it from the Inquisition. Much of the structure was built in the 1700's, although it does have sections with inscriptions dating to December 1413. Like many of the Hindu temples of this period, it also has its own tower and a water tank (artificial lake) fringed by swaying palm trees.

This pictures and anecdotal information were obtained from the book "Window on Goa" by Maurice Hall (Quiller Press, London, 1992, 214 p.). It is an excellent book containing a wealth of information and pictures on Goa. You can buy it online from http://www.amazon.com/. For 18 bucks ($ US), this book is a steal!
