Residents of remote Sanguem villages call for check on speeding vehicles

Sanguem: The people residing in the remote villages of Sanguem taluka, such as Bhati and Netravali areas, have urged the authorities to keep a check on speeding jeeps and other racing vehicles using the internal forest areas and river banks by picnickers from outside as a precautionary measure and to avoid unforeseen incidences.

Ever since the onset of the monsoon season, more particularly on weekends, a large number of jeeps and other racing vehicles are seen proceeding to the hinterland areas of Sanguem taluka passing through Bhati and Netravali village for off road tracking and jungle visits.

During the course of the off road tracking, the vehicle riders are seen passing through the jungle areas and also crossing river and rivulets at several places. Moreover the picnickers are also found venturing into rivers to have a bath which the villagers claim could prove fatal particularly during the monsoon season.

Villagers informed that as the picnickers are unaware of the depth of the rivers, the venturing into them for enjoyment could prove costly and this in turn will bring a bad name to the village wherever the incident takes place.

The villagers have therefore urged the authorities to keep a check on the movement of these high end jeeps moving through the hinterland areas of Sanguem talukas sometimes with their families particularly during weekends as a precautionary measure from happening of any unforeseen circumstances.
