SGPDA calls for regular inspections

Margao: The South Goa Planning and Development Authority (SGPDA) has written to the Director of Food and Drugs Administration (FDA) requesting them to hold regular inspection and check-ups at its markets in Fatorda.

In its letter, SGPDA has requested FDA to make appropriate arrangements to conduct regular inspections and surprise check-up of wholesale and retail markets of fish, mutton, chicken, beef, vegetable and fruits to ensure that no adulterated or contaminated consumable items are sold in the market.

The SGPDA has also requested the FDA to conduct special inspections at wholesale fish market which is the source of fish supply to major areas of Goa and also to take action in case of violations of conditions/norms of trading in the market. [H]
