Shirgao mine urged to take back retrenched workers

Bicholim: Goa Suraksha Manch convener Subhash Velingkar met the retrenched workers of Shirgao mine on Saturday, and demanded that the company take them into service.

Fifty-five workers from Shirgao mine have been retrenched by the company.

“GSM requests the Shirgao mining company to take these workers back on job so that their families do not starve,” Velingkar said.

He demanded with the government to solve the mining problem immediately and also lambasted the Goan MPs and ministers for failing to put pressure on the Centre. [H]
