Special train to Vailankanni leaves Vasco

Vasco: The special train to Vailankanni with 1500 passengers onboard was flagged off from Vasco Railway Station on Monday.

The special train will run on the South Western and Konkan railway route. Looking at the huge response to the special arrangement for pilgrimage to Vailankanni, the South Western Railway is committed to run these special trains to clear the passenger rush. The train will have Margao, Mangalore, Shoranur, Trichy and Nagapattinam as its stops this time round.

“Three special trains have been introduced for this season from Vasco to Vailankanni. Instead of standard 16 sleeper coaches, the Railways has this time introduced 2 AC, 2 SLR and a parcel coach in the wagon,” informed P C Chacko, Vasco Station Manager adding that all special trains are full.

The train will reach Vailankanni on Tuesday afternoon.Meanwhile, former MLA Jose Philip D’Souza has expressed the need of affordable accommodation for Goan pilgrims in Vailankanni and expects the Government to take an initiative to save people from high priced hotel accommodations. [H]
