Ambelim: Sporting Clube de Goa registered an easy 6-0 win over Panjim Footballers to seal a semis spot in the Goa Sevens Premier League, organised by Goa Sevens and Ambelim Sports Club in association with Goa Football Association (GFA) at Ambelim Sports Complex, on Sunday.

Mauvin Borges came off from the bench to score a hat-trick, while Marcus Mascarenhas, Sunny Fernandes and Alesh Sawant scored one each.

The Pro League champs were quick to open their tally six minutes into the game after Marcus Mascarenhas’s cross failed to connect to Cajetan Fernandes inside but it found Alesh Sawant who neatly tapped it in to give the Flaming Oranje a 1-0 lead.

Alesh missed in another close tap in as the keeper of the Panjim Footballers was quick to clear. Substitute Mauvin Borges came on field for Flaming Oranje and was quick to make a mark by scoring a wonderful shot. He made no mistake to score by shooting on an open target as Sporting Clube took a 3-0 lead.

Gautam Dias came close to scoring for Panjim Footballers but his powerful long ranger went inches high from the cross bar.

Moving over, the Panjim side came close to scoring Darry Costa and Snedden Rodrigues but the two failed to find the back of the nets. But nothing seemed to have been stopping the title contenders as Mauvin Borges ran into the box from midfield and placed a tap cross to Marcus who neatly placed it into the nets, 4-0.

Mauvin Borges then, completed a hat trick by swiftly moving into the danger area and placing his perfect left footer into the nets to make it 5-0.

Sunny Fernandes added another late goal for Sporting Clube as they registered a 6-0 win over the Capital city side to move into the last four of the tournament. [H]
