Panjim: The State government has decided to handover the bribery complaint against former Inspector General of Goa Sunil Garg (IPS) to the Central Bureau of Investigation.
A senior officer from Vigilance Department said that following the approval from the government, correspondence has been entered into with the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) to transfer the complaint as it deals with an IPS officer.
He said the reply from MHA is awaited.Vasco-based businessman Munnalal Halwai had complained that Garg had demanded and accepted Rs 5.5 lakh to register a FIR at Ponda Police Station. Halwai had complained to ACB but a FIR has not been registered yet.
Garg has challenged in the High Court the lower court’s order directing ACB to register an FIR. [H]
