Sudin takes ill, admitted at Breach Candy Hospital

Panjim: Public Works Minister Ramakrishna (Sudin) Dhavalikar was admitted in Breach Candy Hospital in Mumbai after he took ill on Monday. The family claims that the Minister is stable and responding well to the treatment.

Dhavalikar is the second minister from the Manohar Parrikar-led cabinet to be admitted in a hospital at Mumbai. Power Minister Pandurang Madkaikar is still being treated at Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital after he suffered a brain stroke last month. The Chief Minister has himself returned to Goa in June after three months of medical treatment in USA.

Sudin’s brother Dr Sandeep Dhavalikar, who accompanied the minister to Mumbai along with another brother Pandurang (Deepak), said the Minister is in ‘good hands’.

“He has undergone a surgery and is recovering well. All are sincerely
requested not to speculate about his health. We are sure that the blessings of Goan people are with him and he is expected to be back to work in few days,’ Sandeep said, states a statement issued by Directorate of Information and Publicity.

When contacted, Deepak said that Sudin was admitted in hospital on Monday and is undergoing a regular check-up. “It is just a regular check up. He will be back at work this week itself,” the brother said.

However, another family member, on the condition of anonymity, confirmed that a biopsy was conducted on the Minister on Monday. “One biopsy has been conducted and two more will be done. We are waiting for the report,” the family member said.

Sudin, who is also Minister for Transport and River Navigation, is the leader of the Maharashtrawadi Gomantak Party’s (MGP) legislature wing that has two other MLAs. He was nominated leader of the House in Parrikar’s absence during the Budget session of the Assembly.

He was also a member of the Cabinet Advisory Committee (CAC), which was formed when the Chief Minister had flown to the USA for treatment. [H]
