Panjim: Tourism Department has advised shack operators to take precautions in the wake of the sudden rise in the water level. Tourists have also been advised to not venture into the waters at least till October 14 due to the prevailing situation.
“The Goan coastline has witnessed sudden rise in the level of sea water, for the last few days. The sea water may rise still further. In view of the situation prevailing along the coastline tourists are advised not to venture into the sea water till October 14. Besides, all shack allottees are advised to check sea water condition and rise in water level and take appropriate precautions for the safety and security of the tourists and property of shacks. Tourists are advised to take maximum care and precaution while at beaches and also pay heed to the instructions of lifeguards deputed on the beaches,” the advisory states.
Department of Tourism has issued a provisional NOC to more than 350 shack allottees at various beaches. Many shacks are located very close to the shoreline posing a further threat. [H]
