MEDICINAL Keri Village was a seat of Ayurveda
in Goa. All generations of Vaidya family settled in Keri Village were
practicing Ayurveda. Dr. Dada Vaidya (1859-1947) was doyan of the
Vaidya family. He used to extract medicines from various plants in Goa
and administer them to ailing persons. Though the Portuguese
Governemnt was advocating Allopathic medicines by law, Dr. DADA VAIDYA
had the priviledge of Portuguese officers and their family members who
had lost hopes of curing by adopting allopathic medicines were treated
by him successfully. A statue of Dr. Dada Vaidya was erected by the
Portuguese government at the central square of Ponda city to show
their gratitude for him.

industry. Indian ladies wear bangles religiously. Bangles on the hands
of a lady indicate that she is either unmarried or married. Widows
don't wear bangles. However, since this cottage industry could not
compete with the well organised large industrial units were
closed.
