Trees fall, damage houses in Sattari

Valpoi: Due to heavy rains and strong winds in Sattari Taluka on Monday many trees got uprooted and fell on the houses in remote villages of the taluka. Valpoi town also got fully flooded with water.In Bhirondem Panchayat area, many trees fell on road. Four houses have been completely destroyed and many electric poles have also been damaged.

“In my Bhirondem Panchayat area trees like jackfruit, mango and cashew, have fallen on four houses and electric poles. We have done the survey and site inspection. Villagers have suffered losses estimated at Rs 10 lakh.

I will now submit a detailed report to the Valpoi Mamlatdar office,” said Nitin Shivdekar, Bhirondem Sarpanch.According to the Valpoi Fire Brigade station around 50 trees had fallen on the roads, electric poles and on the houses. [H]
